In April 2021, the initiation phase of the two projects for ŠVPS SR „the State Veterinary and Food Administration of the SR“ has began. First one, the “Data management of the State Veterinary and Food Administration of the Slovak Republic” (a.k.a. the DATA project) and the second one, the “Improvements of eGov services of the State Veterinary and Food Administration of the SR” (a.k.a. the eGOV project).
The goal of the DATA project was to ensure the build of basic database for the comprehensive veterinary and food information system “KVEPIS.” The data managed by ŠVPS SR will be managed systematically, which will contribute to the comprehensive data management of the entire public administration. This means that clear rules and methodologies will be applied for the use and management of data.
The eGOV project was supposed to ensure the implementation of the complex veterinary and food information system “KVEPIS.” Overall, the project should contribute to improving all processes monitored and managed within ŠVPS SR, such as the increasing food safety both on the Slovak and European markets, speeding up warning and data exchange processes, reducing the risk of introduction and spread of various animal diseases and to ensure the better handling control with animal by-products. All of these to ameliorate health of consumers as well as the wellfare assurance of farmed animals.
The implementation phase has began at the end of May 2022. Both projects were managed with waterfall methodology, where the projects scopes were defined in advance by feasibility study. Each of the projects was divided into managerial phases and stages, which overlapped with each other. Within the individual stages separate deliveries were delivered. Thanks to the detailed preparation of projects plans and stages, there was a better response to changes that came within the entire implementation period. During all of the phases, possible risks were evaluated and problems arising from approved changes were faced.
Thanks to the professional approach of highly organized project management and project support team, despite these challenges, both projects were completed in February 2024.

The work on both projects was very demanding in terms of time and content and required a lot of commitment and effort. Although projects are often full of obstacles and sometimes unpredictable situations arise, we have learned to handle any situation and bring the project to the end.
